How it works

What this actually is

PairReveal is a relationship communication tool. It is for reflection and conversation between partners — not medical, psychological or professional advice, and not adult entertainment.

The short version

  • You answer alone. You answer a set of questions about your relationship, on your own phone, one question per screen. Skip anything you want.
  • They answer alone. You send your partner one link. They answer the same questions on their own phone. Neither of you sees anything the other said first — that is what makes people honest.
  • The halves meet. Once you have both finished, matches open and non-matches stay shut. Whether you share everything or only the matches is locked before the first question.

Four ways to play

One engine and one question bank behind all four. The rule never changes: nothing is revealed unless both of you put it there.

Duo — two people, apart

The main one, and the one everything else is built on. You answer on your own, send one link, they answer on their own, and you both see only the overlap. Start it from the button at the top of the home page.

Solo — you against everyone else

Not a separate start. You begin a Duo like anyone else; Solo is what your report becomes if your partner never finishes, and what you can see while you wait. Instead of a comparison with them, you get your answers set against everyone who has answered the same pack — where you sit with the majority, and where you are the outlier.

Duel — guess each other

Played after a Duo rather than instead of one, because there is nothing to guess at until you have both answered. Once you have, either of you can open a duel from the results page: you guess what they said, they guess what you said, and the score is how well you actually know each other. It covers only the questions with a guessable answer, and it says how many those were.

Group — up to eight phones

A room code, up to eight people, one simultaneous reveal. Nobody sees a single answer until everyone in the room has answered that question. Start a room at /room.

What you actually receive

A web page, available immediately once you both finish. There is nothing to download and no app to install. It contains:

  • A score from 0 to 100 for how closely your answers line up, and what that band means.
  • A breakdown by category — communication, money, trust, the future, and so on.
  • The questions you both said yes to, side by side.
  • Any note either of you left on a question you both agreed on.

The free version gives you the score, the breakdown, and a sample of your shared answers. Paying shows the rest.

What is never shown

If either of you said no to something, it is not revealed — not to them, not to you, and not at any price. That is not a paid feature being withheld; those answers simply are not part of the report.

Before the first question, you choose whether to share everything or only your matches. That choice locks as soon as answering begins, so neither of you can change it after seeing where the other stands. It is the reason people answer honestly.

Notes on a question

You can add a note to any question. A note is shown to your partner only if you both agreed on that question — never otherwise, including if you chose to share everything.

Accounts and data

  • There is no account. Your quiz is identified by the link itself, so keep it.
  • We do not require your email address to play.
  • Quiz data is deleted on a schedule — see security and data.

How long it takes

About three minutes each for the short quiz. You can stop and come back — your answers are saved as you go, including if you lose signal partway through.
